BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University men's basketball player Nick Jones (Rosedale, NY/ Hillcrest) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for the period ending February 24, 2007.
Jones, a junior, was the catalyst in Bloomsburg's 2-0 week. He averaged 28.5 points per game while hitting 66.7% (16-24) of his field goal attempts. In a 75-69 win at West Chester, he netted a career-high 26 points, hitting 8 of 15 from the floor and 9 of 10 from the free throw line. Then, in the season finale vs. Mansfield, he registered a new career high with 31 points, which included an 8 of 9 showing from the floor. Jones also hit 15 free throws, including seven in overtime to help seal the victory.
For the season, Jones averaged 7.9 points and 2.2 rebounds per game and finished second in the PSAC in free throw percentage with a mark of 83.8 percent (62-74).
Bloomsburg finished the 2007 season with a record of 13-14, 5-7 in the PSAC East; the most wins for the team since the 2001-02 season.
