Huskies Lacrosse Falls to Pfeiffer
MISENHEIMER, NC - Senior Kim Springman (Downingtown/Bishop Shanahan) and sophomore Samantha King (Elkton, MD/Northeast) scored two goals apiece but Bloomsburg University fell to Pfeiffer University 7-5 in non-conference lacrosse action on Thursday afternoon in Misenheimer, North Carolina.
The Huskies (2-1) got on the board first as Springman scored less than seven minutes into the game and King followed 3:36 later with another goal as Bloomsburg took a 2-0 lead. The Falcons came right back, scoring three unanswered goals over the next 9:35 to take a 3-2 lead with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half.
Bloomsburg stopped the Pfieffer run, as freshman Amber Shifflett (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) knotted the game at three 1:21 with an assist from fellow freshman Gabrielle Lochetto (Phoenixville/Owen J. Roberts). Both teams went scoreless for more than six minutes before the Falcons came back with another goal, taking a 4-3 lead with 2:23 left. With time winding down, Springman scored her second goal of the game, tying the score with seven seconds to go before the half.
Pfeiffer (6-1) took control in the second half, scoring three times and playing tough defense to take a 7-4 lead with less than five minutes remaining. King made it a two-goal game at the 4:40 mark when she found the back of the net off a pass from sophomore Allie Kakareka (Royersford/Spring-Ford), but the Huskies went scoreless the rest of the game to take their first loss of the season.
The Huskies are back in action next Wednesday when they travel to East Stroudsburg to take on the Warriors in the PSAC East opener. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
