Kakareka Leads Bloomsburg to Win
EAST STROUDSBURG-Allie Kakareka (Royersford/Spring-Ford) scored four goals to lead the Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team to a 13-5 win over East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game.
The Huskies jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the game with Samantha King (Elkton, MD/Northeast) and Kakareka each scoring two goals. King got Bloomsburg on the board just 1:27 into the game and followed up with her second goal just 14 seconds later.
After the Warriors got on the board, Bloomsburg scored four of the final five goals of the half with Maggie Canavan (Erdenheim/Springfield) hitting the back of the net twice giving the Huskies an 8-2 lead at the break.
In the second half Lyndsey Babilon (Boyertown/Boyertown) scored the first three goals for Bloomsburg to give the Huskies an11-2 lead with 20 minutes to play. Kakareka put the finishing touch on the game for Bloomsburg scoring with 1:01 left to play.
Along with Kakareka scoring four times for the Huskies, Babilon finished with three goals, while King and Canavan scored two each. Bloomsburg goalie Shelby Iezzi (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts) made 20 saves for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg, 3-1, 1-0 in the PSAC East, will host Molloy College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
