Lacrosse Players Named All-PSAC

BLOOMSBURG-- Five members of the Bloomsburg University lacrosse team have earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honors for their play during the 2008 season.

Named first team All-PSAC was Angie Picciotti (Calfont/Central Bucks West), while Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton), Cali Toms (Pottstown/Pottsgrove), Ashley Bowers (Springfield/Springfield) and Cara McGroarty (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) were named second team.

Picciotti, a senior, was named first team defense. She had 43 ground balls and 21 draw controls during the year. She also scored 23 goals and assisted on eight others for a total of 31 points. Picciotti was a second team All-PSAC selection a year ago.

Quigley, a junior, was named second offense and was third on the team in goals scored with 26 and had a team-high 20 assists. She also had 43 ground balls, 24 draw controls and 23 caused turnovers. Quigley was also a second team All-PSAC choice in 2007.

Toms, a senior, was named second team offense. She led the Huskies in goals scored with 47 and in points with 51. She also led the team in draw controls with 43 while coming up with 21 ground balls and causing 14 turnovers. Toms, was named first team All-PSAC in 2005 and second team in 2006.

Bowers, a freshman, was named second defense for the Huskies. In her first season, Bowers led the Huskies in ground balls with 51 while causing 22 turnovers and making 15 draw controls.

McGroarty, a junior, was also named second team defense. McGroarty led the Huskies in caused turnovers this season with 25 and also had 42 ground balls and 11 craw controls. She also chipped in with six goals and five assists.

Bloomsburg was 9-9 during the season and reached the semi-finals of the PSAC playoffs.
