Riley Scores Twice in BU Win
BLOOMSBURG-- Sophomore Amanda Riley (Tannersville/Pocono Mountain East) scored twice and senior Erin Hench (Loysville/West Perry) had two assists to lead the number one ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey to a 4-0 win over eighth-ranked Stonehill College in a non-conference game on Sunday.
Riley put the Huskies on the board first when she scored unassisted at the 10:34 mark of the first half. Just under two minutes later Breann Tobin (Perkasie/Pennridge) scored, also unassisted to make it 2-0 in favor of Bloomsburg.
Later in the half the Huskies struck again when Ashley Miller (Shermans Dale/West Perry) took a pass from Hench and scored at the 23:34 mark, then Hench fed Riley just over two minutes later to make it a 4-0 lead at the break.
In the second half the Huskies defense led by Chelsea Due (Pen Argyl/Pen Argyl), Betsy Renn (Herndon/Line Mountain) and Madison Schoch (Quakertown/Quakertown) limited the Skyhawks to just two shots on goal, both in the final minute.
Bloomsburg, now 2-0, will host Seton Hill College on Thursday at 4 p.m.
