Bloomsburg's Breanne Tobin Named PSAC East Player of the Week
BLOOMSBURG - Bloomsburg's Breanne Tobin (Perkasie/Pennridge) was named this week's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Field Hockey Athlete of the Week for the period ending on October 4.
Tobin scored three goals in two games to help lead Bloomsburg to a 2-0 week with wins over Shippensburg and Kutztown as the Huskies took control of first place in the PSAC East. In a matchup of the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country last Tuesday, Tobin scored a goal in the No. 2 Huskies' 5-1 win over the No. 1 Lady Raiders. Tobin scored the fourth of Bloomsburg's five goals as the Huskies jumped out to a 4-0 lead with four goals in the first 14 minutes of the game. She then scored two goals in Saturday's 5-2 win over Kutztown, which avenged Bloomsburg's only loss of the year and extended the Huskies' current winning streak to eight games. After Bloom had gone down 2-1 to the Golden Bears in the 23rd minute, Tobin scored her first goal less than a minute later to tie the game 2-2 and then with the Huskies nursing a slim 3-2 lead later in the game, she made it 4-2 in the 63rd minute with her second tally of the contest.
Bloomsburg, 11-1, will play Slippery Rock today at 4 p.m.
