No. 1 Bloomsburg Field Hockey Blanks No. 9 Millersville
MILLERSVILLE-Top-ranked Bloomsburg University defeated ninth-ranked Millersville 4-0 in PSAC East field hockey action on Friday.
The Huskies (17-1, 7-1) got on the board first when sophomore Amanda Riley (Tannersville/Pocono Mountain East) found the back of the net for the 21st time this season just under 20 minutes into the first half. Senior Aubrey Carman (Dallastown/Dallastown) made the score 2-0 when she scored 1:44 into the second half.
Bloomsburg kept the Marauders offense at bay and continued the scoring when junior Aime Sgarlat (Dallas/Lake Lehman) scored off of a penalty corner at the 50:18 mark. Senior Breanne Tobin (Perkasie/Pennridge) finished up the scoring with 4:02 remaining when she scored the Huskies fourth goal of the game.
Senior Caitlin Koczynski (Yardley/Neshaminy) and freshman Meghan Hollenbach (Blandon/Fleetwood) shared time in the net for the Huskies, sharing the shutout and stopping both of Millersville's shots.
The Huskies are back in action on Sunday when they continue their road trip to Erie for the regular season finale against Mercyhurst at 11:00 a.m.
