BLOOMSBURG-- BU field hockey standout Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntingdon Valley/Lower Moreland) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 21.
Vanartsdalen is the PSAC East Player of the Week for the second time this year after reaching another career milestone. Two weeks after breaking the NCAA Division II career record for points, the senior broke the NCAA career mark for goals in Division II with her 94th career goal in an 8-0 win over Mansfield last Thursday. She entered the game needing two goals to break the record of Longwood's Terry Voit (1974-77). She tied the record with a goal at the 18:29 mark in the first half and then netted the record breaker eight minutes into the second half. Vanartsdalen also recorded two assists against the Mountaineers, moving into a tie for second place on the NCAA career assists list.
Two days earlier, she recorded a hat trick in a 9-1 win over Mercyhurst, scoring all three goals on just five shots. She wrapped up the week by scoring one goal in a 3-2 loss to Shippensburg on Saturday. For the week, she recorded six goals and two assists for 14 points.
Bloomsburg, 8-1, will play at Kutztown on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
