BU Athletics

BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University's Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntingdon Valley/Lower Moreland) was recognized in 2007 by the Collegiate Women Sports Award Program as a Honda Award nominee in field hockey. The Honda award recognizes outstanding athletic achievements as well as examples of leadership, academic excellence and community involvement.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. has made a $1,000 donation in Vanartsdalen's name to the women's general athletic scholarship fund at Bloomsburg University.

Vanartsdalen became NCAA Division II's all-time leading field hockey scorer earlier this season, breaking the mark of 206 points set by Lock Haven's Melanie Helm (1993-96) with a goal against Philadelphia University earlier this season. Vanartsdalen currently leads the NCAA in points per game with 4.33/game and has led the Huskies to a number one national ranking. In 2007, Vanartsdalen was named Division II National Player of the Year.

Shown with Vanartsdalen at the check presentation were Bloomsburg University Athletic Director Mary Gardner (L) and Head Coach Jan Hutchison.
