Bloomsburg Field Hockey Ranks First in the Country

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University field hockey team is ranked number one in the STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Coaches poll for the second week in a row.

The Huskies, 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), have dominated their opposition early in the 2006 season. Bloomsburg has outscored their opposition 35-3 and have out shot competitors 181-49.

The Huskies are led offensively by sophomore Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock /Lackawanna Trail), a 2005 All- Rookie Squad selection, who currently leads the team in goals scored with nine. Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland), a 2005 second team All-American selection, is currently second on the team in goals scored with eight.

Defensively, for the Huskies, goalie Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake Lehman), a 2005 first team All- American selection, has 32 saves with a save percentage of .914 and three goals against her so far this season.
