Bloomsburg Field Hockey Ranked First in the Country

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University field hockey team opens the season ranked number one in the first STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Coaches poll.

The Huskies, 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) have dominated their opposition early in the 2006 season. Bloomsburg has outscored their opposition 29-2 and have out shot competitors 132-24. The Huskies are led by sophomore Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) , a 2005 second team All-American selection, who currently leads the team in goals scored with eight. For her efforts, she was named PSAC Field Hockey Player of the Week for the period ending September 10th.

Bloomsburg travels to seventh ranked Indiana (PA.) on Wednesday and Millersville on Saturday.
