Huskies Denied Spot in NCAA Playoffs

BLOOMSBURG-The Bloomsburg University football team finished sixth in the final Super Region One poll of the year, but lost its spot in the NCAA Division II playoff on the earned access rule.

The Huskies, 8-3, finished sixth in the poll, but were replaced in the tournament by Fayetteville (NC) State from the CIAA conference. According to NCAA rules if a team finished in the top eight of the rankings, but its conference was not represented in the top six in the final poll, the seventh or eighth place team would replace the sixth place team. In this case, Fayetteville, which finished seventh, will take the Huskies spot in the upcoming playoffs. Fayetteville will play third seeded California (PA) on Saturday in an opening round game.

West Liberty was ranked first in the Super Region One followed by Shippensburg, California, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Bloomsburg and Fayetteville.
