Bloomsburg University Football Ranked Fourth in Regional Rankings

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University football team is ranked fourth in the NCAA Super Regional 1 following their 24-21 loss to West Chester on Saturday. The NCAA Super Regional determines the playoff seeding in each geographical region.

In addition, the Huskies are ranked 14th in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Poll and 16th in the Top 25 Media Poll. The Huskies have been raked every week during the 2008 football season.

Grand Valley State, Abilene Christian (Texas), Northwest Missouri State, Delta State (Miss.) and North Alabama comprise the new top five in the AFCA poll. Other PSAC teams in the top 25 this week include California (Pa.) ranked 7th, West Chester at 17th, IUP at 18st and Edinboro at 20st.

The Huskies fell to 9-1 this past Saturday with a 24-21 loss to West Chester University. Tailback Derrick Price (Burlington, NJ/Burlington City) rushed for 94 yards and set the freshman rushing record by a Bloomsburg tailback, surpassing the previous record of 991 yards set by Jamar Brittingham in 2004. Price now has 1, 064 yards rushing this season, marking the sixth consecutive season Bloomsburg has had a tailback eclipse the 1,000 yard mark.

The Huskies hit the road this Saturday to take on Gannon University. Kick-off is set for noon at Univeristy Field in Erie, Pa.
