BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University defensive lineman Zac Barton (Berryville, VA/ Loudan Valley) and defensive back Tyler Trettin (Hummelstown/ Hershey) have been named to the 2006 CoSIDA/ ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Football team. Barton was named to the District II first team, while Trettin was named to the District II second team.
Barton, a senior history major, has maintained a 3.71 GPA, while being one of the Huskies tri-captains. Barton is sixth on the team with 31 tackles this season and leads the Huskies with five sacks. As a member of the first team, Barton is eligible to be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team.
Trettin, a senior exercise science major, has a 3.54 GPA and is also one of the Huskies tri-captains. Trettin has emerged as one of the top defensive backs in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). He ranks third on the team with 47 tackles and is tied for second in the PSAC with four interceptions.
The team is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. In order to be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve, have completed at least two semesters and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20.
Bloomsburg, 9-1, 5-0 in the PSAC East will look to clinch sole possession of the PSAC East Title when they visit Cheyney on Saturday at 1 p.m.
