Huskies Drop PSAC East Opener To West Chester

BLOOMSBURG-The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped a doubleheader to eighth-ranked West Chester on Friday in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener losing 10-7 and 18-3.
In the opener the Huskies took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. With one out, Chris Tressler (Lewistown/Lewistown) reached on an error and went to second on a wild-pitch. Tony Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock North) then doubled home Tressler for a 1-0 lead. Jerry Lloyd (Mifflinburg/Mifflinburg) then followed with an RBI single making it 2-0.
After the Golden Rams tied the game with single runs in the second and third innings, the Huskies went regained the lead when Tressler walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Lloyd. West Chester tied the game in the third with a run then put four runs on the board in the top of the fifth for a 7-3 lead.
The Huskies made it 7-5 in the home fifth. Donofry walked to lead off the inning and moved to second on a wild pitch. Lloyd then reached on an error putting runners at second and third. Eric Ebert (Holland/Council Rock South) then followed with a single scoring Donofry with Lloyd scoring later on an error.
West Chester made it 8-5 in the sixth before the Huskies rallied one more time in the home half of the frame. Ebert and Jarrod Kramer (Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) both had RBI hits in the inning for the Huskies making it 8-7. The Golden Rams though came back with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to post the 10-7 win. Lloyd and Ebert both run in two runs for the Huskies.
In game two, West Chester broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the top of the fourth inning. The Huskies got two back in the bottom of the fourth with Donofry getting an RBI triple and Ebert a run scoring single.
The Golden Rams though scored 15 runs over the next three innings to take control of the game. Bloomsburg added a solo homer from Corey Eisenhart (York/Dover) in the seventh for its final run.
Ebert went a combined 4-6 with three RBI and a run scored in the doubleheader for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg, 4-14, 0-2 in the PSAC East, will match up with the Golden Rams again tomorrow at West Chester starting at 1 p.m.
