Game One Box Score
Game Two Box Score
BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University swept a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East doubleheader with East Stroudsburg on Saturday, winning 3-1 and 15-8 to take three of four from the Warriors in the weekend series. Because the game was moved from East Stroudsburg to Bloomsburg due to poor field conditions, the Warriors played as the home team.
It was a pitcher's duel in the opener, as the game remained scoreless into the fourth when Eric Boyer smacked an RBI double, giving the Warriors a 1-0 lead. The Huskies came right back in their half of the fifth, getting back-to-back RBI hits from Devin McLaughlin (Bloomsburg / Bloomsburg) and Joey Ianiero (Bloomsburg / Central Columbia) to take a 2-1 lead.
Bloomsburg picked up another run in the seventh, getting a solo shot from Gino Wise (Mechanicsburg / Mechanicsburg Area), his second of the series, to take a 3-1 lead. The Warriors threatened in the bottom half of the inning, getting two runners in scoring position with two outs, but Mike Rossetti (Phillipsburg, NJ / Phillipsburg) struck out the final batter, picking up the save and ending the threat.
Christian Saveri went 6.1 innings for East Stroudsburg, striking out 10 with just five hits and three earned runs. Joe Crossin (Fairless Hills / Pennsbury) picked up the win for the Huskies, going 6.1 innings and allowing just one earned run.
The Huskies got on the board quickly in game two, getting an RBI double from Jerry Lloyd (Mifflinburg / Mifflinburg Area) to take a 1-0 lead. Bloomsburg came back the very next inning with three more runs, getting RBI singles from Chris Tressler (Lewistown/Lewistown) and Tony Donofry (Newtown / Council Rock North). The Huskies extended their lead in the third to 8-0 with a four-run inning. After two straight singles to open the inning, Eric Ebert (Holland / Council Rock South) got another, bringing in a run. Two batters later, a wild pitch brought the second run home and a single by Ianiero brought another two runs across the plate.
After East Stroudsburg put two runs on the board in the bottom half, each team got cold, getting just two combined hits over the next two innings of play. Bloomsburg then opened the game up in the top of the sixth, getting seven runs to take a 15-2 lead. Included in the inning were RBI hits by Jarrod Kramer (Orwigsburg / Blue Mountain), Nick Eversole (Lewistown / Indian Valley HS) and Tressler.
The Warriors came right back in the bottom half, putting together a big inning with six runs of their own to cut their deficit to seven. The big hit in the inning was a pinch hit grand slam by Kenny Serfass. After a scoreless half of the seventh, Mitch Troy (Elkton, MD / St. Mark's) finished off the Warriors in the bottom half, preserving the Saturday sweep.
Rossetti picked up the win in relief, giving up no earned runs in three innings. Every position player hit for the Huskies and seven had at least two hits. McLaughlin went 3-for-5 with two runs scored while Tressler finished 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored. Ebert and Eversole each scored three runs apiece.
The Huskies (9-21, 5-9) return to the field on Tuesday when they travel to Shippensburg for a makeup doubleheader with the Red Raiders.
