BU Falls to Chestnut Hill
NORTH WALES,PA-The Bloomsburg University baseball team lost to Chestnut Hill College by a score of 8-1 on Wednesday in a game played with wood bats. The game was called with two outs in the bottom of the seventh due to darkness.
The Huskies had a chance to score in the first inning when Joey Ianiero (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) led off the game with a triple, but was thrown out a home trying to score on a fly ball by Tony Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock North). The Griffins did get on the board with a run in the bottom of the first and two more in both the second and third innings and one more in the fourth for a 6-0 lead.
Bloomsburg scored in the top of the fifth inning. Gino Wise (Mechanicsburg/Mechanicsburg) reached second on a two-base error, then scored on a double by Eric Ebert (Holland/Council Rock South).
Chris Tressler (Lewistown/Lewistown) suffered the loss for the Huskies going the first four innings and striking out seven and not allowing a walk. Ebert went 2-3 with an RBI.
Bloomsburg, 4-12, will start PSAC East play on Friday hosting West Chester starting at 1 p.m.
