Huskies Split Friday Games at Builder Invitational

HAMPTON, VA - The Bloomsburg University baseball team went 1-1 yesterday defeating Briarcliffe 14-4 before losing to Lock Haven 22-19.

Against Briarcliffe, the Huskies put up 14 runs to win in seven innings. Joey Ianiero (Bloomsburg/Rutgers), Chris Tressler (Lewistown/Lewistown), Tony Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock North), and Eric Elbert (Holland/Council Rock South) each had two RBI in the win. David Langton (Mt. Carmel/Mt. Carmel/Del. State) threw four innings for the Huskies only giving up two earned runs while striking out three. The Huskies scored two runs in the second, third, fifth, and sixth innings before bursting out with six runs in the seventh to end the game.

Against Lock Haven, the Huskies scored in every inning except for the last but Lock Haven scored six runs in the fifth inning, five runs in the sixth inning, and seven runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Huskies by three runs. Donofry went 3-6 and knocked in five runs, while Ianeiro, Tressler, and Jarrod Kramer (Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) each had two RBI. Grant Kernaghan (Upper Darby/Upper Darby) started the game, throwing four innings, giving up three earned runs and struck out five.

The Huskies next game will be against Kutztown University on Saturday at 6 pm.
