Baseball Team Falls to Kutztown

NEWPORT NEWS, VA--Bloomsburg University banged out 15 hits, but Kutztown rallied from a seven-run deficit to post a 13-11 win over the Huskies in college baseball action on Saturday.

Bloomsburg jumped out in front in the top of the first inning. The Huskies scored five runs on five hits with Kevin Ward (Upper Darby/Monsignor Bonner) driving in two runs with a double with Nick Ferdinand (Bensalem/Archbishop Ryan) and Jarrod Kramer (Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) also getting RBI singles in the inning.

After Kutztown scored four times in the bottom of the first, the Huskies scored three more times in the top of the third. Carlos Medina (Lititz/Manheim Twp) and Tony Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock North) had RBI singles with another run scoring on a wild-pitch, then, scored three more in the fourth to go up 11-4.

Kutztown cut the deficit to 11-10 with a run in the fourth and two runs in the seventh. The Golden Bears then scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 13-11 lead.

Ferdinand led the Huskies going 2-5 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Medina went 2-4 with two runs scored.

Bloomsburg, 2-2, will play on Sunday at 3 p.m. against Kutztown.
