BLOOMSBURG-- Bloomsburg University baseball player Tony Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock South) has been named to the 2009 CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District second team.
Donofry, a junior, was voted to the team with a GPA of 3.71 in Business Education. Donofry was just one of three Division II players named to the District Two team that covers D-II and D-III schools in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey.
On the field, Donofry was named second team All-PSAC East for his play this season. A shortstop, Donofry was second on the team in batting with a mark of .396 and led the Huskies in runs scored with 45 and was second in hits with 65, doubles with 14 and in RBI with 30. He also led the Huskies in stolen bases with 18. Donofry was also tough in clutch situations for Bloomsburg getting 14 two-out RBI and hitting .583 with two outs and runners in scoring position. Donofry had 19 games with two or more hits and finished the year with a 14-game hitting streak.
