Three Huskies Named All-PSAC

BLOOMSBURG-- Three Bloomsburg University baseball players have been named to the 2008 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division all-conference team.

Earning second team All-PSAC East honors were third baseman Tony Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock South), utility player Chris Tressler (Lewistown/Lewistown) and relief pitcher Grant Kernaghan (Upper Darby/Upper Darby).

Donofry, a sophomore, hit .329 for the year and led the team in home runs with three, runs batted in with 27, runs scored with 33, hits with 53 and was tied for the team lead in total bases with 70. During the season Donofry had a team-best 13-game hitting streak, 11 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games. His best twinbill of the season came at home against West Chester when he went five for six with three runs scored and two RBI.

Tressler, a sophomore, saw time in both the outfield and on the mound for the Huskies. As a batter, Tressler led the Huskies with an average of .333 with two homers and 19 RBI. He was second in runs scored with 29 and in hits with 48. He was tied for the team lead in doubles with 12 and had a .486 slugging percentage.

As a pitcher Tressler was 3-7 with a 7.59 ERA in 10 starts. He led the team in strikeouts with 28 and was second in complete games with two. His best game of the season was a five-hit shutout against Lock Haven with five strikeouts and no walks.

Kernaghan, a sophomore, was a key component of the Huskies bullpen earning five saves in six relief appearances. Overall, Kernaghan was 1-4 with a 2.60 ERA and three complete games and 21 strikeouts and just five walks. He also tossed a six-hit shutout in his final game of the year against Mansfield.
