BLOOMSBURG— Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Green Campus Initiative will begin their spring events with a showing the documentary “After the Spill” on Thursday, March 23, at 7 p.m. in Kuster Auditorium, Hartline Science Center. This event is free and open to the public.
The documentary follows the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, an ecological disaster that changed parts of the Gulf of Mexico after 200 million gallons of crude oil was in the ecosystem for weeks. “After the Spill” explains how the disaster, five years after Hurricane Katrina’s massive destruction, devastated the coast of Louisiana with coastal erosion occurring at an alarming rate.
Cindy Venn, professor of environmental, geographical and geological sciences, will bring focus to the problems of oil spills like the BP spill with explanations and discussion based on the film.
