Students demonstrate artistic talent

BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University’s Haas Gallery of Art will highlight the talents of BU art students with the 2015 Juried Student Art Show.

The show kicks off Thursday, March 26, with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at Haas Gallery of Art. The exhibit will remain on display until Tuesday, April 14.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

All art students are invited to submit artwork in the medium of their choice. In previous years, the event has drawn 50 to 60 entries, reduced to approximately 30 pieces for final jurying.

The juror for this year’s show is Kerry Kolenut, visiting assistant professor. Kolenut, who teaches graphic design at BU, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master of Fine Arts in photography from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. She has taught photography and design in undergraduate programs in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and China.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 10,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Education, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
