BLOOMSBURG — Sculptor Sarah Tortora will showcase her work in Bloomsburg University’s Haas Gallery for the start of a new season of art. Her exhibit, “Yearning on the Diagonal,” will be on display from Friday, Dec. 19, to Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015.
A reception for the exhibit will be held on Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a lecture at 1:15 p.m.
Tortora is an adjunct professor at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Conn., where she teaches introductory and intermediate sculpture classes. Her work, which has been described as daring, bold and colorful, deals mostly in wood and other mixed media sculptures. She has completed several teaching fellowships and was awarded the Stuart Egnal Scholarship Award in artistic excellence from the University of the Arts of the University of Pennsylvania.
