For Immediate Release: March 5, 2014
BLOOMSBURG — Naomi Falk, an artist who specializes in mixed media and has exhibited nationally, will display her works at Bloomsburg University’s Haas Gallery of Art.
Falk’s exhibit, “I Remember,” will be featured from Saturday, March 15, to Thursday, April 24. Gallery hours during exhibitions are weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 2 p.m. On April 24, a reception will be held in the gallery from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., including an artist talk with Falk at 1:15 p.m.
“Through performance, sculpture, ceramics and text, I explore the distance between physical and psychological space,” Falk said. “I interpret the impact of social events and their dynamics by delineating presence, absence, action and reaction. These processes mark a passage in time and place; through them I construct an identity and awareness of the present.”
Falk also will be a juror and workshop leader for BU’s 10th annual Personal Adornment Day and Makeup Extravaganza (PADME) at the Caldwell Consistory in downtown Bloomsburg on Friday, April 25. The event includes wearable art and makeup created and modeled by BU students.
Falk earned a master’s degree in studio art from Carnegie Mellon University. She has exhibited both regionally and nationally and has done residencies in the United States, Germany and Iceland. Currently, she is a visiting assistant professor, gallery coordinator and technician in the art and art history department at The College of William and Mary.
Admission to the gallery and the PADME event are free and open to the public.
