BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University’s University Store was recently added to the Collegiate Retailer of the Year Honor Roll. At this year’s Campus Market Expo (CAMEX), BU was included with 17 other schools as one of the best college retailers in the U.S. and Canada.
The expo was held Feb. 22 to 26 at the Kansas City (Mo.) Convention Center.
The University Store was one of 1,100 college retailers represented at CAMEX. Held once a year, CAMEX is the college retail industry’s largest tradeshow and educational event. The expo features a variety of educational workshops to improve the college retail experience.
The store was nominated for the Collegiate Retailer of the Year (CROY) Award in fall 2012. The CROY Award requires candidates to demonstrate its campus connections, academic support, commitment to customers, and a well-rounded shopping experience.
“We’re pleased to be recognized as one of the top 18 stores in the U.S and Canada,” said Beth Christian, University Store manager.
The award is presented by the National Association of College Stores. This year the grand prize was given to The Forty-Niner Shops at California State University, Long Beach, due in part to its rental program that includes 62 percent of its 4,500 titles.
Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. BU serves approximately 10,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Education, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
