Puerto Rican artist to speak at BU

BLOOMSBURG – Puerto Rican artist Mariposa will help kick off Hispanic Heritage Month at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania with her presentation "Boricua Butterfly" on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. in the KUB Multicultural Center.

Mariposa's presentation will focus on her experiences of being a Latina growing up in New York City, her pride in her culture and her love of the Bronx through poetry and song. She will also discuss the power of creativity and topics such as identity, race, class and gender.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 9,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Education, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
