BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania will host the 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Banquet on Friday, Feb. 2, at 5:30 p.m. in the Kehr Union Ballroom.
The evening will feature a performance, “The Meeting.” The presentation looks at what could have happened if civil rights leaders Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. had met before they were assassinated just three years apart. “The Meeting,” written by Jeff Stetson, portrays the passive resistance used by King and militancy advocated by Malcolm X. The play examines the private and public lives of the individuals as well as the clash of tactics and ideas for the advancement of freedom.
