BLOOMSBURG— A local Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania student has been named the university’s 2005-06 Student Employee of the Year.
Ashlie Dell, a junior criminal justice major from Bloomsburg, will receive a $500 scholarship. Dell, who works as a clerical assistant in the business office, was among 27 students nominated by on- and off-campus work study supervisors. She was selected by the Student Employment Appreciation Committee, comprised of BU faculty and administration.
Dell is currently interning at Zerby Gap Familyworks in Spring Mills. Zerby Gap provides counseling and supervision of delinquent adolescent boys ages 12 to 18. Dell works as a residence counselor and is responsible for supervising the youths. She helps with house security, mediating conflicts and anger management.
Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 8,000 students and offers 65 bachelor’s, 18 master’s and one doctoral degree.
